Master Lazarus is the commander of the Dark Angels’ 5th Company, further belonging – as do several of such ranks within the Chapter – to the Inner Circle. Such duality of role is ever a trial for the Company Masters. It is a test of their loyalty and integrity, that they must safeguard even from their own followers and battle-brothers the secrets imparted to them about their Chapter’s past and its true goals. It is a testament to Lazarus that he is able to discharge all of his duties without compromising his vows of secrecy. Indeed, the Master of the 5th not only achieves this balance but is further entrusted as the Keeper of the Unseen Ritual. This is an esteemed role within the Inner Circle that has seen him collate much secret lore concerning the ancient orders of Caliban itself.
